Alice Kammerer French

Alice Kammerer French, 94, of Greensburg (formerly Latrobe), passed away, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. She was born May 9, 1930, in Somerset, to the late Charles Westol and Edith (Leeder) Kammerer. Alice was a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School and she moved from Somerset to Latrobe in 1951. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked for Latrobe Area Hospital. Alice was a member of Latrobe Community Ministries; a former Girl Scout Leader; a former president of Church Women United; had served as a delegate to the UMC Annual Conference; and was a long-time volunteer for the Latrobe Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor K. Hickey and Christine K. Laughrey; a brother, Harold J. Kammerer; a son-in-law, Robert D. Piper, and a step-grandson, Robert D Piper Jr. Alice is survived by her husband of 73 years, William D. French; four daughters, Ellen Piper, Elizabeth Moore (Paul), Edith Nevins (Charles), and Amy Massimini (Joseph); seven grandchildren, Grey Moore (Mairi), Janice Barry (Michael), Gerianna Massimini, Jessica Nevins, Carissa Surber (Matthew), William Massimini, and Emily Rooney (Michael); four step-grandchildren, J. Charles Piper (Laurie), Alison Piper, Timothy Piper, and David Piper (Jose Martinez); four great grandchildren, Nathaniel Barry, Noah Barry, Deacon Surber, and Jack Rooney; six step great-grandchildren, three step great great-granddaughters; as well as her nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Latrobe Community Ministries, 440 Main St, Latrobe, PA 15650, Pastor Chris Morris officiating. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Luncheon will follow in the church. Private interment.
