Anthony C. "Tony" Evangelista, also known by close friends as "Weed," 76, of Latrobe, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born June 13, 1938, in Bovard, to the late Anthony Evangelista and Laura Dellvecchio Evangelista. He was retired from SCI Greensburg and worked as a bus driver for First Student. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe Lions Club, honorary member of the First Ward Firemen, and past assistant chief for Bovard Fire Department. He served in the Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel J. Evangelista. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joanne (Kollar) Evangelista; three children, Nathan Evangelista and Jacquelyn Onusko, both of Latrobe, and Tonya Tinkey and her husband, Duane, of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Jada Onusko, Michael "Mikey" Onusko, Austin Paldino, Melany Wilmot, Petrina Wilmot, Logan Tinkey and Cayla Tinkey; a sister, Daloris Ferrett, of Greensburg; brother, Richard Evangelista and his wife, Joyce, of Sandston, Va., a sister-in-law, Theresa Evangelista, of Lancastor, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; as well as a special friend, Lisa K. Fannon and her daughter, Casey W. Fannon. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney VF officiating. Burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. Military honors will be provided at the graveside by the Greensburg VFW Post 33 Honor Guard.
