Antonio "Tom" Carbonara entered his eternal home Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Loyalhanna Care Center in Latrobe. Born June 9, 1931, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Michael (Amato) and Michelina (Delvechio) Carbonara. He was retired from Torrance State Hospital after 25 years in the maintenance department. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515 in Latrobe. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Latrobe and served as an usher for many years at the 6 a.m. Mass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew "Red" Carbonara; and his sisters, Marie Gasbarro and Myrtle Carbonara. Also going before him was his companion of 33 years, Betty Lou Ross, who passed away Aug. 15, 2011. Survivors include his sister, Helen Dellavecchia, of Kent, Ohio; and five nieces, Mary (Gasbarro) Bleehash (Joseph) and Phyllis (Gasbarro) Kosczuk, both of Latrobe, Antoinette Dellavecchia, of Oakmont, Patricia (Dellavecchia) Strosser (Tom), of Greenville, and Nancy Dellavecchia, of Kent, Ohio; great-nephews and nieces, Joseph P. Bleehash (Jess), Jennifer M. Bleehash (Amy), Brian J. Kosczuk (Susan), Bethann M. (Kosczuk) Trickett (Jason), Josh, Luke and Kristina Strosser and Sophia Dellavecchia; and four great-great nephews, Reese Joseph McCracken, Joseph Gavin Bleehash, Nicholas Gross and Joseph Domenic Kosczuk. Tom will be greatly missed by all of us, but now will rest eternally with his family, who have gone before him. Rest in peace, Uncle Tom. We will always love and remember you. A special thank you goes to the staffs of Loyalhanna Care Center and to Excela Health Hospice, especially Mary Ellen and Lois for their care and compassion shown to him and our family during this difficult time. A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, V.F., officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. The combined funeral detail of local American Legion and VFW members will provide military honors at 8:45 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
