Carmella M. "Carm" Shotzbarger

Carmella M. "Carm" (Apone) Shotzbarger, 87, of Latrobe, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Loyalhanna Care Center, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Latrobe, daughter of the late Louis J. Apone and the late Ada M. (Mastrorocco) Apone. She was a retired chiropractic assistant and a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. She loved her family and friends. She enjoyed her many jobs including her chiropractic job with Dr. Stein and Dr. Saraff. She loved music and singing. She actually pursued a degree at Seton Hill in music and helped direct choirs at Holy Family. She loved helping with Children's choir at the annual Children's festival. She enjoyed working at the church office, which she did up until three weeks ago. She also loved doing massages for people. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Shotzbarger, in 1967; and a son, Michael Shotzbarger. She is survived by two children, Lydia J. Manzini and her husband, Jim, of Greensburg, and Mary Ann Moore and her husband, Greg, of Jeannette; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha and Kate Shotzbarger, Darcy (Manzini) Fearer, Peter Dasta and Gina (Dasta) Skinner and Amanda Moore; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Kynzie, Kiersten, Ben and Katie; two siblings, Larry Apone and Mary Lou Kottcamp; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for the compassion and care they showed to Carm over the last several weeks.
