Carol A. Stemmler

Carol A. Stemmler, 85, of Latrobe (Derry Twp.), passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at home.  She was born May 4, 1938, in Pittsburgh, to the late Aldo and Marie (Stern) Cervi.  She attended Point Park College and in her early years worked as an X-ray technician.  She then spent over 20 years as an administrative assistant for PNC Bank, Jeannette.  Carol had been a member of the Jeannette BPW and later transferred to the Latrobe BPW where she served as Recording Secretary (1985-1986), Treasurer (1987-1988), and Vice-President (1989-1990).  She also had served as Greater Jeannette United Way Campaign Chairman and was a member of the Latrobe Kiwanis Club.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Ernette and William Ernette; and a brother-in-law, Terry Stemmler.  Carol is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard J. Stemmler; three children, Scott Cervi, Richard T. Stemmler (Cindy) and Jacki Kennedy (Robert); five grandchildren, Brad Cervi (Michelle), Justin Cervi, Camie Kennedy-Mexicanos (Freddy), Nathan Kohuth (Ali), Seth Kohuth (Erica); many great grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers-in-law, William Stemmler (Judy) and Donald Stemmler (Laura Lloyd); two sisters-in-law, Connie Stemmler and Brenda Ernette; and two extended family members, Cheryl Chestnut and Jackie Wacker. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family and was always giving of herself to help others. Many of her younger friends referred to her as “mom” and she loved that designation. Carol loved to travel; having been on several cruises plus trips to Europe and Hawaii. However, most of all she loved spending vacation time in Florida. It has been said many times that if you couldn’t get along with Carol you probably couldn’t get along with anybody. She will be missed by all who knew her.  Family and friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650.  Funeral services and interment in Westmoreland County Memorial Park will be private.  The family would like to thank the staff of Suncrest Hospice Care and Senior Helpers; specifically Frankie, Kari and Amber.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carol’s memory to The Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania or to the Union Mission in Latrobe.  To send condolences, please visit www.FrederickFuneralHome.com.
