Charlene Ruth (Bartosik) Ellis

Charlene Ruth (Bartosik) Ellis, 56, of Latrobe, (Derry Township), passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born Sept. 10, 1966, in Johnstown, to the late Philip and Dolores (Parks) Bartosik. Charlene worked as a disability claims adjudicator for the Bureau of Disability Determination. She was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish and she was a union steward for SEIU. She was formerly a CCD teacher at Holy Trinity Parish. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Francine (Bartosik) Cowger; and her grandmother Juliana (Parks) Bartosik-Kovach. Charlene is survived by her husband of 34 years, David Jay Ellis; three children, Loretta Ellis, Benjamin Ellis and Carrie Ellis; two sisters, Paulette Bartosik and Dolores Anita (Bartosik) White; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, in St. Vincent Basilica with Father Leon Hont, O.S.B., as celebrant.
