Curtis A. Fisher

Curtis A. Fisher, 94, of Unity Township, passed away at home on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023.  He was born Jul. 22, 1929, in Black Lick, a son to the late Aaron and Christina (Hancock) Fisher.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1949-1952 as a surgical technician.  His service in the Army continued until his retirement at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  Curt worked in the steel industry at various plantsincluding Latrobe Steel, Crucible Steel, Wilbur B. Driver Co., and Al Tech Specialty Steel.  Following his retirement from the steel business, he worked as a farm manager.  Curt was an accomplished Beekeeper for many years and was well known for the wonderful honey his bees produced.  An avid outdoorsman, Curt could often be found hunting many types of game as his knowledge of the woods was hard to match.  Curt was a proud Freemason and belonged to the following Masonic bodies, Knights Templar, Syria Shriners, Thomas B. Anderson Royal Arch Chapter, and Past Master Loyalhanna Lodge No. 275 Free & Accepted Masons.  In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice (Casterwiler) Fisher in 2018, three sisters, Zelda Fisher Roghair, Daisy Fisher Carson and Lillian Fisher.  Curt is survived by three daughters, Kristen Hauger (Tom), Kathy Hunter (Jeff) and Karen Petrarca (Pat); three grandchildren, Andy Hauger (April), Beth Hauger Silowash (Ryan), and Aaron Petrarca; seven great-children, Tommy, Cora, Charlotte, and Jacob Hauger, and Lucas, Zac, and Matthew Silowash; four sisters, Lucida Elgin, Violet Roghair (Richard), Beverly Sorisio (Elmer) and Linda Kamperin (Ken); two brothers, Robert Fisher and John Fisher (Nancy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He will be deeply missed by his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650, where a funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Chris Livermore officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Ligonier, PA.  Members of Loyalhanna Lodge No. 275 F&AM will conduct a Masonic Funeral Service in the funeral home, Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.  Military Honors will be rendered at graveside by the Blairsville Veteran’s Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Curt’s name to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Inc., 3201 Cross Timbers Rd, Bldg. 4 - Suite 300, Flower Mound, TX 75028.  To send condolences, please visit www.FrederickFuneralHome.com.
