Dorothy M. "Dolly" Fanell DeVitis, 92, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, in IHS at Mountain View, Greensburg. Born Feb. 6, 1915, in New Alexandria, she was a daughter of the late Domenick and Philomena Santella Fanell. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. She was a retired food service worker in the professors' dining hall of Seton Hill College, and was the former owner of the Mountain Inn, Ligonier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John DeVitis, in 2005; four brothers, Sylvester, Joseph, Frank and Tommy Fanell; and four sisters, Mary Knoll, Agnes and Catherine Shandel, and Jane Gangemi. She is survived by a step-son, John V. DeVitis and his wife, Nancy, of Harrisburg; a step-daughter, Ann Marie Vella and her husband, Sal, of Maryland; two grandchildren, Joseph Vella, of Ligonier, and Salvatore Vella, of Maryland; two brothers, Philip Fanell and his wife, Lee, of Trenton, Ohio, and Ralph Fanell, of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Anna Samas and her husband, Al, of Fort Bragg, Calif., Josephine Topic, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Marie Fanell, of Fort Myers, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Thomas M. Lukac as celebrant. Interment in West Newton Cemetery.
