Dorothy B. Myers, 89, died peacefully at her home in Latrobe on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, surrounded by some of her church family. Born Feb. 22, 1924, she was the last living member of her immediate family as she was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother and loving husband, Norman Myers. Dorothy married the love of her life, Norman, whom she met on a blind date. Together they had many wonderful years together. Dorothy smiled when she told friends that Norman brought her flowers every week of their marriage. Dorothy was a longtime active member of Latrobe United Methodist Church. She loved her wonderful church family, reading her Bible, traveling, playing golf and making everyone at church feel loved and welcomed. Dorothy served on almost every committee at the church at one time or another. She always had a twinkle in her eye and a warm smile to greet you. During the past few weeks she spent time with many church friends who came to see her, and she appreciated everyone's visits, calls, prayers and well wishes. Dorothy touched many lives, including special friends Stella Hastie, Mary Lou Myers and Dave Deglau. She leaves behind a nephew, Norman Matusak. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in Frederick Funeral Home Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe.
