E. Gertrude (Hines) Hartman, Ed.D, R.N., 90, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, in Westmoreland Manor, where she received excellent care. Born Jan. 3, 1926, in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late John Edward Hines and Mary (Campbell) Hines. She was a retired registered nurse, having worked as a Westmoreland Hospital nursing supervisor, Magee Hospital nursing supervisor, West Penn Hospital School of Nursing director and Forbes Regional Hospital director of Medical Surgical Nursing. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, Pennsylvania Nurses Association and Calvary Baptist Church in Irwin. She was a graduate of Jeannette High School and Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She earned bachelor degrees from California University and Slippery Rock University, a master's degree in counseling at Duquesne University and a doctoral degree in education at the University of Pittsburgh. She was also a certified diabetes educator and certified skin specialist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Hartman, in 2000; three sisters, Mary Elizabet Veronesi, Edna Eade and Florence Ponzetti; and three brothers, Charles Edward Hines, John Hines and Paul Hines. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca L. Hartman, Ed.D, R.N., of Latrobe; three sisters, Louise Robinson, of New Mexico, Josephine Ankney, of New Stanton, Lois Bungey, of California; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at Frederick Funeral Home Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Wise officiating. A private burial will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
