Edna M. (Henschel) Weiers, 104, of Latrobe, died Friday, July 14, 2017, in Greensburg Care Center. She was born April 12, 1913, in South Greensburg, daughter of the late Albert Henschel and Johanna (Young) Henschel. Prior to retirement, she worked at the Norvelt Cafeteria and Library as well as for Adelphoi Village as a secretary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Victor Weiers, and two daughters, Sylvia Wanichko and Rose Shawley. She is survived by five children, Arlene Weiers, of Pittsburgh, Victor Weiers and his wife Jan, of Oxnard, Calif., Daun Weiers, of Lexington Park, Md., and Sharon Kobistek and Elaine Morris, both of Latrobe; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. As per her wishes, there will be no viewing. Family and friends will gather from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joyce Dix-Weiers officiating. Burial will be private. Because of Edna's love for animals, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Action for Animals Humane Society, 386 PA-217, Latrobe, PA 15650.
