Eleanor L. Paul, 75, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Jan. 1, 1932, in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late John F. and Dorothy Edna Turner Murray. Prior to retirement, she was director of nursing for Latrobe Area Hospital. She received her Master of Nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Following her arrival at LAH in 1952, Paul was involved in many areas of the hospital. She opened the mental health unit and home health care, she taught in the school of nursing and was also a clinical director. She was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish and Jolly Girls Dinner Club, and had volunteered for the Red Cross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John F. "Jack" Murray; and two sisters, Dorothy Leonard and Virginia Serena. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard H. Paul; a son, Richard H. Paul Jr., of Ligonier; two daughters, Susan M. Paunovich and her husband, Ernest, of Leechburg, and Laura J. Iannello and her husband, Mark, of Johnstown; four grandchildren, Kelly Wainwright, Dominic Paunovich, Joshua Waite and Morgan F. Paul; three faithful caregivers, Minnie, Pat, and Peg; and her dog, Maggie, who was her good friend. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday in St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe, at 12:00 Noon. Burial in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Excela Health Latrobe Hospital Foundation in her name.
