Elizabeth Marie McFadyen, 97, of Washington, Pa., died Sunday, July 3, 2011, in Strabane Woods, Washington, Pa. Born March 4, 1914, in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Marie S. Murray. Prior to her retirement, she was a private duty registered nurse. She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, and the Registered Nurses Association (U.S. and Pa.) In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James K. McFadyen, in 1983; a brother, Richard S. Murray; a sister, Joan Murray; and a sister-in-law, Mary G. Shearer. She is survived by a son, Thomas M. McFadyen and his wife, Marcia, of Pittsburgh; and three grandchildren, Cathleen M. McFadyen, James R. McFadyen and Caroline Dorn, all of Brooklyn, N.Y. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe.
