Erma M. Downs

Erma M. Downs, 72, of Latrobe, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Aug. 4, 1937, in Bradenville, she was a daughter of the late William and Birtha (Frye) Lint. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Downs, in 2007; a daughter, Patricia Crusan; three grandchildren, Westley J. Downs, David Downs and Patrick A. Crusan II; a great-grandson, David Donald McManamy; four brothers, Roy, Earl, William and Kenneth Lint; and a sister, Iva Funk. She is survived by two sons, Donald J. Downs and Joseph J. Downs, both of Latrobe; two daughters, Barbara Shafron and her husband, Thomas, of Derry, and Michelle McManamy and her husband, Kenneth, of Latrobe; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Mary Lou) Miller, of New Derry; as well as many nieces and nephews. Erma had a unique bond with her very special grandson, Logan, and her very special granddaughter, Aubrianna. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, as celebrant.
