Eugene S. Watters, 80, of Ligonier, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born August 30, 1927, in Greensburg, son to the late Harlow E. and Viola Sonnie Watters. He was a retired member of the Army and worked in military intelligence. In addition to the Army, he served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ligonier. He is survived by two sons, Greg (Beth) Watters of Frederick, Md. and Jerri Watters of Newport, Vt.; three grandchildren, Eric A. Watters, Megan A. Watters and Kristen M. Watters; a brother, Terry Watters of Latrobe; and a sister, Bonnie Cronin of Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Richard E. Watters; his wife, Patricia A. Watters in 2006; and a sister, Nancy White. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC. and a service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church where Rev. William Pieringer will officiate. At 7 p.m. Friday the combined detail of American Legion Post No. 515 and VFW Post No. 3414 will provide military honors in the funeral home.
