Gary D. Piper, 58, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at home. Born June 1, 1955, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Helen Ann (Rostkowski) and John L. Piper Sr. He had worked as a carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; three brothers, Bob, Thomas "Hap" and Terry; and a sister, Rose Marie Miller. He is survived by three stepchildren, Denise, Kevin and Kim and their families; two brothers, John L. Piper and Victor Piper; two sisters, Alice Piper and her husband, Cleveland, and Marlene Keefe and her husband, Jim; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; a special companion, his dog, Maggie May; and friends from Olympia Place. No public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, in The Church of God, Youngstown, Pa., with Pastors Roy Piper and Kenny Butts co-officiating.
