George Vucish

George Vucish Latrobe George Vucish, 93, of Latrobe, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born April 3, 1919, in Crabtree, a son of the late Rada Vucish and Lena Katuch. An Army veteran of World War II, George retired from Latrobe Steel and was a licensed Pennsylvania auctioneer. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and the Potter County Anglers Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a crack trick shooter. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton Vucish, Paul Vucish and Michael Vucish; and three sisters, Elizabeth Vucish, Dorothy Kochis and Ann Messaros. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Schandel) Vucish, whom he married in 1962; a close nephew and best buddy, Dino DeFlavio and family, of Murrysville; niece, Liz Pomponi and her husband, Bob, of Greensburg; as well as several other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. The combined funeral detail of local American Legion and VFW members will provide military honors at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
