Gerald H. Haase Sr., 82, of Interlachen, Fla., died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at home. Born Jan. 10, 1926, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Henry and Marie (Potter) Haase. Prior to retirement, Gerald was employed as a laborer for Vanadium Steel. A member of the Church of God, Interlachen, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II and Korea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, John, Charles, Alice, Beatrice, Carol, Henrietta, Betty, Geneva and Dorothy, as well as a grandson, Jeremy Jason Haase. He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Hudack Haase of Interlachen; four daughters, Gladys Willis and her husband, Bobby, of Pipetown, Margaret Guidos and her husband, George, of Pleasant Unity, Marla Bates of Confluence and her fiancAC., Ted Hall, and Darlene Hissem and her fiancAC., Dan Bogle, of Latrobe; four sons, Gerald Haase Jr. of North Carolina, Edward Haase of Lloydsville, Robert Haase and his wife, Michelle, of Bolivar and Brian Haase of Little Washington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Theodore Haase of Latrobe; three sisters, Emma Jean of Interlachen, Nancy of Latrobe and Shirley of Colorado, and his faithful dog, Ginny. There will be no public visitation. Graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Youngstown, with the Rev. C. Wesley Kuntz officiating. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Youngstown. Frederick Funeral Home Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, in charge of arrangements.
