Gertrude Yawczak, 99, of Latrobe, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Feb. 5, 1915, in Bradenville, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Yawczak and Theophilia Rudy Yawczak. She was retired from the dietary department of Torrance State Hospital and was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by five brothers, all World War II veterans, John, George, Peter, Theodore and Nicolaus (Mickey) Yawczak; and two sisters, Sophie Kopetsky and Mary Trovel; also one nephew, Joseph Kopetsky. She is survived by her sister, Kathryn Daniels; neices and nephews, Marcia (Trovel) Ballinger and her husband, Charles, Charles Trovel and his wife, Kathleen, Lisa (Daniels) Timek and her husband, Frank, Mary (Daniels) Lafferty, and Daniel Yawczak and his wife, Tammy; great-nieces and great-nephews, including Michelle Ballinger, Kelsey and Cassidy Lafferty, Cheryl Kopetsky, Christopher Trovel and his wife, Tzu-Chieh and Brandon Trovel and his wife, Jennifer; and one great-great-nephew, Alexander Trovel. There will be no public visitation. A Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4827 Route 982, Latrobe, PA 15650, with, the Rev.
