Gilbert N. Wrights

February 10, 1937 — February 4, 2021

Gilbert N. Wrights, 83, of Greensburg, PA, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.  He was born February 10, 1937 in New York, NY to the late Norman Gilbert Wrights and Julianna (Vanic) Wrights.  He was a retired Nuclear Engineer having worked for NASA in Cleveland, OH and then 24 years for Westinghouse Energy Center in Monroeville.  He truly enjoyed and loved his work.  He was the kind of person who would fix something that was broken rather than replace it.  The challenge of figuring out why and how something failed intrigued him.  It fit very well with his analytical nature.  He enjoyed photography in his earlier years and had a good eye for capturing the moment.  He attended St. Vincent Basilica Parish.  He was a proud and active member of the Greater Latrobe High School Band Boosters and even served as President in the early 1990’s.  He enjoyed making his backyard beautiful with his wife Dorrayne.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dorrayne F. (Grohman) Wrights who passed away just fourteen days before him.  He is survived by  two children, Renee Wrights Pochciol (Richard Obney) of Scottdale, PA, and Craig M. Wrights (Pamela Moore) of Hershey, PA; a brother Douglas Wrights (Marilyn) of Brecksville, OH; and a sister-in-law Claudia Beechuk (David) of Henderson, NV.  Memorial contributions in his name can be sent to The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA  22116-7023.  Arrangements entrusted to Frederick Funeral Home, Inc., 1543 Ligonier Street, Latrobe, PA 15650.  To send condolences please visit www.FrederickFuneralHome.com.
