Henry P. Verchuck, 85, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in Nature Park Commons, Greensburg. Born Feb. 29, 1924, in Crabtree, he was a son of the late Paul A. and Justyna (Milan) Verchuck. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of Verchuck Construction. He attended St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army, and a member of American Legion Post 515. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Frank, Andrew and Walter Verchuck, Helen DeMaria, Marianne Sorice and Paul Verchuck; two sisters-in law, Josephine Verchuck and Ann Verchuck; a niece, Andrea Yost; and a great-nephew, Christopher Cline. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Chabina) Verchuck; a sister, Sister Andrea Verchuck, OSB, of Bristow, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Verchuck and Linda Verchuck; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in St. John the Evangelist Church with Father Anthony J. Carbone as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree. The combined funeral detail of local American Legion and VFW veterans will provide military honors at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Henry's name to St. Benedict Monastery, 9535 Linton Hall Road, Bristow, VA 20136.
