James (Jay) L. Ernette, 70, of Greensburg, PA; Hutchinson Island, FL; and Port St. Lucie, FL; died Monday August 31st, 2015, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born July 18th, 1945 in Greensburg, PA, son of the late William C. Ernette Sr. and Dorothy R. (Longsdorf) Ernette. Jay was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School, Point Park College, and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. Jay retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after almost two decades of dedicated service. He was the founder and former CEO of Unity Printing Co., Inc. located in Latrobe, PA (1980-until his retirement in 2013). He was a member of Latrobe United Methodist Church. Freemasonry was an important part of Jay's life; he was elected as the Right Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Pennsylvania (1998-1999). Jay was a member and current and/or past officer of the following Masonic organizations: Westmoreland Lodge No. 518, F. & A. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Brenda Smith Ernette, a daughter Lisa R. (Ernette) Frederick, and her husband Joe of Greensburg; two grandchildren Ashley L. Frederick and Cole J. Frederick, both of Greensburg; a brother William C. Ernette Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; and a sister Carole A. Stemmler and her husband Richard of Latrobe, PA; and his faithful dog Max. Friends will be received Friday September 4th, 2015 at Frederick Funeral Home Inc. 1543 Ligonier Street, Latrobe PA 15650 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. Jay's funeral service will be held Saturday September 5th at Frederick Funeral Home Inc. at 10:30am with the Reverend David J. Henderson of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. A private entombment will follow at St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg, PA. A Masonic Funeral Service will be conducted Friday at 6pm by Westmoreland Lodge 518 F.&A.M.. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions to be made in Jay's name to the Compassionate Care Fund at the Masonic Village at Sewickley 1000 Masonic Drive, Sewickley PA 15143 or to the Animal Friends of Westmoreland 216 Depot Street, Youngwood PA 15697.
