John W. Baker Sr., 89, of Latrobe, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at home. He was born July 23, 1927, in Saltsburg, a son of the late Howard and Alice (Fink) Baker. John was a retired caster for Latrobe Die Cast and also performed masonry work. He enjoyed traveling and spending time in Clearwater, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2004 by his wife, Georgie E. (Swaney) Baker, and also by a brother, Harvey Baker, and two sisters, Virginia Reedy and Shirley Keibler. He is survived by three children, Thomas R. Baker and his wife, Anita, and Vickie E. Clark, both of Latrobe, and John W. Baker Jr. and his wife, Terrie, of West Virginia; seven grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Jamie, Jenna, Thomas, Nathan and Eric; 10 great-grandchildren; three siblings, James Baker and Hun Shirley, both of New Alexandria, and Richard Baker, of Blairsville; and a special friend, Verna Frontz. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016.
