Josephine M. 'Jo' Petruzzi, 88, of Greensburg, formerly of Annadale, Va., died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 16, 1923, in State College, PA, daughter of the late Lawrence P. Miller, PhD, and Eva M. (Gross) Miller. Josephine graduated from Penn State University and served her country by working in the Boeing Aircraft factory during World War II. Like most women working in the factory during the war she was a true 'Rosie the Riveter.' At the end of the war Jo started her real career. She was a member of the American Chemical Society and worked for 25 years at Analytical Chemistry Magazine. Jo retired in 1986 finishing her memorable career as the executive editor of the magazine. She was the beloved wife of the late Rudy Petruzzi; loving mother of Janice Pechan, of Greensburg, and Edward Pechan, of Hernando, Fla.; grandmother of three granddaughters, Gwendolyn Pechan, Bethany Bennett, Melissa Pechan; and eight great-grandchildren; sister of Robert C. Miller, PhD; and aunt of Robin, Laurie and Jeff. As per her wishes, there will be no public visitation and funeral services are private. Arrangements by FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. Because of Jo's love of cats, especially her longtime companion, Tiger, memorial contributions can be made to Animal Keepers Rescue, 485 McGinnis Road, Acme, PA 15610.
