Linda Marie Maurer passed away on June 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Linda was a true disciple of the Lord in all her works and deeds, a living example to us all, and now has achieved eternal peace.
Linda was born in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of late Pasquale and Regina (Silverio) Fonzi. Her life was dedicated to service greater than herself, first as a Sister of Divine Providence, as mentor to thousands of students in her career as a teacher and of course a loving mother and wife making God’s Providence more visible in our world. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Bertha LaRocca; and brothers-in-law, Evelino LaRocca and Pete Omodio. She was a member of CHRISTUS St. Joseph Village Catholic Church in Coppell, TX, St. Michaels Catholic Church, Garden City Beach, SC and St. Vincent Basilica Parish, Latrobe, PA. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ed Maurer; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and wife Katy, Edward II and wife Nancy; Tami Maurer; her sister, Lena Omodio; brothers-in-law, Ronald Maurer and wife Linda, Randall Maurer and Gwen Hartnett; and all of her precious grandchildren, Tyler, Natalie, Eddie and Megan.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent Basilica Parish in Latrobe, PA on June 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Frank Ziemkiewicz as celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Interment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 5206 Center Drive, Latrobe, PA, 15650.
