Lois S. Walter, 85, of Latrobe, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at her home. She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Ligonier, a daughter of the late Clyde S. and Eva Clawson Syster. She was previously employed in the office of Troutman's Department Store and the Halund Company. After World War II, she was employed in the office of Boyd Osborne, a local physician, until his retirement in 1983. She was active in volunteer work, delivering Meals on Wheels and had more than 6500 hours at the information desk at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was a lifelong member of the Latrobe United Methodist Church and also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Derry Chapter. She is survived by her husband, Albert L. Walter; a son, David and his wife, Judy; a daughter, Nancy Brett and her husband, Rodney, all of Manchester, Md.; a brother, Donald F. Syster and his wife, Shirley, of Latrobe; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Dibert, of Irwin; four grandchildren, Jill Bruce and her husband, Scott, of Arlington, Pa., Erin Swindlehurot and her husband, Kevin, of Nashville, Tenn., Shannon W. McCracken and her husband, Scott, of Street, Md., and Todd J. Walter and his wife, Heather, of Austin, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Kerrie and Alex Bruce and Kyle and Kaitlin McCracken. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Latrobe United Methodist Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. Aimee W. Twigg officiating. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH.
