Marguerite A. (Falso) Bigley, 92, of Latrobe, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at home, with her loving family at her side. Born Jan. 12, 1924, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Bianco Elizabeth (Fanciulla) Zappone Falso. As an avid and community-minded volunteer, she served on the Latrobe Juvenile Commission, was a Latrobe Hospice Volunteer, served on the board of directors for Adelphoi, and was a member of St. Vincent Parish Eucharistic Ministry of Care. Marguerite worked at St. Vincent College, The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and the Westmoreland County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program before retiring. Marguerite enjoyed traveling and was thrilled to have visited 16 countries and most states. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. "Gene" Bigley; and their young son, Raymond E. "Geno" Bigley Jr. Marguerite was the last surviving sibling of 10 brothers and sisters, A.J. "Jeff" Zappone (Beatrice), Charles Zappone (Peggy), John Zappone (Marian), Marie Iafarino (Tony), Anna Koch (William "Bud"), Helen "Carmel" Danko (Matthew), Florence Joyner (Robert), Eleanor Falso and Pauline Stemmler (Henry "Coag"). She is survived by two daughters, Joan O'Barto (Thomas) and Loraine Springer; and a nephew she helped raise, Kevin Sciglia. Also, surviving her are five grandchildren, Thomas R. O'Barto, David O'Barto (Buffy), Angela Zalich (John), Christopher Springer (Elizabeth) and Joseph Springer. Marguerite leaves 13 great-grandchildren, Victoria O'Barto, Sean O'Barto (Anna), Tyler O'Barto, Kayla, Lauren and Meghan Zalich, Tate, Jace and Shae O'Barto, William, Benjamin, Ella and Thomas Springer. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Marguerite has been entrusted to the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650, with visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at St. Vincent Basilica. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe. The American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The Oblates of St. Benedict will conduct a service at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
