Mary E. Dix

Mary E. Dix, 87, of Elderton, formerly of Latrobe, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at home. She was born March 26, 1920, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Raymond and Bessie Paul Bates. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A. Blaine Dix, in 1999; three brothers, Charles, LeRoy and Robert Bates and a sister, Jane Shenefelt. She is survived by a daughter, the Rev. Joyce Dix-Weiers and her husband, Thomas Weiers Sr., of Elderton; four grandchildren, Blaine Weiers and his wife, Stephanie, James Weiers and his wife, Valerie, Ann Powell and her husband, William, and Thomas Weiers Jr. and his wife, Denise; 11 great-grandchildren, Ronald, Dustyn, Ashley Wolfe and her husband, Adam, Jessica, Hannah, Olivia, Grace, Alexis, Jake and Madison. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Schock and the Rev. Sandra J. Kessinger co-officiating. Burial in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
