Mary (Moximchalk) Kuhns

Mary Kuhns, 99, of Cooperstown was born May 24, 1924 and she passed away Feb. 4, 2024. She was the daughter of the late George and Anastasia Moximchalk. Mary had been self-employed for over 20 years as the owner of Kuhn's Service Station of Hillview Avenue in Latrobe. She was proud to be one of Latrobe's first female gas station attendants. She was also bookkeeper for over 40 years for Three "K" Cabinets, Barns Unlimited, Specialty Cars Unlimited and Mini Warehouse Space of Latrobe until October of 2023. She never used a calculator or a computer. Growing up she was known as the smartest girl in Cooperstown. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by three sons, Bobby, Kenny, and Barry; five brothers, John, Mike, George, Pete, and Nick; and two sisters, Ann and Katie. She is survived by her loving sister, Rose Rhinehart, of Greensburg; three sons, Thomas (Donna), of Florida, Porky (Deb), and John (Vickie); and daughter-in-law, Sandy (Brendan), all from Latrobe; eight grandchildren, Danny (Lisa), Jeffrey (Kristin), Jason, Lisa, Amanda, John Ross, (Blair), Ashley (Britton), and Christopher (Stephanie); nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, in the funeral home with Pastor Corben M. Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery, Latrobe. Mary was one of the longest serving members of her church, so in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, Laveen Street, Latrobe, in her honor.
