Maude Victoria Fordyce

Maude Victoria Hennen Fordyce, 93, of Latrobe, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Aug. 6, 1914, in Burton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clark and Annie Pethtel Hennen. She was a homemaker and a member of Latrobe United Methodist Church and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. From 1972 to 1999, she volunteered at Latrobe United Methodist Church in the kitchen preparing dinners, and helped to implement and maintain The Clothesline, selling donated clothing to the less fortunate, from 1985 to 1996. She enjoyed growing houseplants, especially African violets, and a variety of craft and needlework projects, including crochet and embroidery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Olen Fordyce, on July 9, 2004; four brothers, James, Russel, Milton and Edison Hennen; and a grandson, John Cox. She is survived by four children, Don Fordyce and his wife, Flora, of Latrobe, Betty Short and her husband, Ronald, of Johnstown, Joann Cox and her husband, James, of Latrobe, and Ron Fordyce and his wife, Louisa, of Saltsburg; five grandchildren, Donald Joseph, Barbara, Samuel, Dale and Jay; and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
