Paul L. Simms Sr., 83, of Latrobe, passed on to Glory at home on July 27, 2017. He was
born Aug. 25, 1933, in Kingston, a son of the late Jesse Simms and Mary Gill Simms. He
was retired from Vulcan Mold and Iron Company, Latrobe, where he worked as a ladle
crane operator, and he was a member of Word of Life Church in Greensburg. Paul was a
loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather ("Gramps") and great-grandfather
("Great"). He was very kind, hard-working and generous, and would offer his help to
anyone. He was happiest when he was outdoors, and loved hunting, fishing, gardening and
spending time with his family and at his cabin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret "Peggy" J. Japalucci Simms; his daughter,
Patricia "Trish" (Simms) Schiefer; a son, David A. Simms; a grandson, Mark D. Fink; nine
brothers, Jesse, William, Donald, Dale, Ronald, Wayne, Harold, Dean and Dennis Simms;
four sisters, Violet, Lois, and Gloria Simms and Patricia "Pat" Riffle. He is survived by a
daughter, Kathleen "Vonnie" (Simms) Fink and her husband Lloyd, of Lebanon, Pa.; son,
Paul L. Simms Jr. and his wife Mary (Lampe) Simms, of Ligonier, who lived with him and
lovingly cared for him for the past year; grandchildren, Michael L. Fink and his wife
Heather, Candace Simms, Joseph A. Lampe and his wife Jenny, and Tanya (Lampe)
Morrison; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew, Matthew and Lucas Fink and Luke
Morrison; a twin brother, Frank Simms; and sisters, Yvonne "Cook" Kelly and Ila "Ide"
Jellison; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family wishes to express a special thank-you to
his hospice nurse, Donia, and the Hospice Care Team. At Paul's request, there will be no
