Robert O. Schmucker

Robert O. Schmucker, 73, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born April 20, 1937, in Latrobe, a son of Virginia (Shirey) Schmucker and the late to Robert V. Schmucker. He was a master tool and die maker, welder, machinist, custom machine builder/designer and a mentor. He served his apprenticeship at Riverside Tool & Die working his way up to foreman. In July 1967, he founded his own business, ArcMaster Enterprises Inc., successfully growing his business for the past 43 years and adding ArcMaster Research & Development Inc. to his accomplishments. His newest visions, B & D Creekside Activity Center, Creekside Country Kitchen and Dexter's Deck, currently under construction, will be completed in his honor. Bob's kindheartedness and patience has touched the lives of many individuals. His vast knowledge and unmatched capabilities were often shared with local businesses and will be sadly missed. His true nature and unselfishness could never be expressed in words. Bob was a member of the Latrobe Chamber of Commerce and National Federation Independent Business (NFIB) and also a former member of The Latrobe Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert V. Schmucker. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Darlene D. (Gower) Schmucker; his mother, Virginia Schmucker; brothers, Gerald and Roy; by previous marriage, a son, Jeffrey Schmucker; and two daughters, Dianne Dunlap and Carrie Schmucker; grandsons, Tyler Dunlap, Colin Schmucker and Gus Schmucker; and various nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his four fur kids, his eldest dog, Arce, of 10 years, Dexter, Delaney and Alli. The family will receive friends during a memorial gathering from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650.
