Robert A. Shaw Sr

Robert A. Shaw Sr., 77, of Latrobe, Unity Township, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at home. He was born March 4, 1937, in New Stanton, son of the late Donald A. and Beulah Kennel Shaw. He was retired from Vulcan Mold as a millwright. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, a former council member for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and a life member of Kingston Club. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as playing with his grandchildren. He was also an Army veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Thomas and Margaret Gratzinger; two brothers, James D. Shaw and Donald A. Shaw; and a faithful companion of 19 years, Buddy. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Catherine M. "Kay" (Dunlap) Shaw; four children, Robert A. Shaw Jr. (Deborah), Marlene A. Wasnesky (Matthew), Deborah Rose (William) and Beth Ann Hamerski (James); 11 grandchildren, B.J. (Robyn), Christi (Tim), Megan, Kayla, Michael, Andrew, Chelsey, Carly, Nicholas, Connor and Lex; one great-grandchild, Avery; a brother, William Shaw; a sister-in-law, Darly Shaw; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe PA 15650. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bill Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe. The combined funeral detail of local American Legion and VFW members will provide military honors at 10 a.m. Monday, in the funeral home.
