Robert August “Bob” Szymkiewicz

Robert August “Bob” Szymkiewicz, 91, Derry (formerly of Sarver), PA, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at Newhaven Court at Lindwood, Greensburg.  He was born September 8, 1931, Natrona Heights, a son of the late Konstant and Rosela (Kulis) Szymkiewicz.  He served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  Bob was catholic by faith and was last a member of St. Martin Parish, Derry, PA.  He was a former member of the Buffalo Twp. Zoning Board and he enjoyed carpentry, gardening and reading.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth (Krzeminski) Szymkiewicz; and three siblings, Regina Ziemkiewicz, Melanie Bickel, Eugene Szymkiewicz.  Additionally, his sister, Leona Howard passed away just one day after Bob.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosina (Thomas) Szymkiewicz; four children, Mary Ann (Mark) Mazur; Victoria Jozefczyk; Mark (Darcy) Szymkiewicz; and Jennifer (Christopher) Bombalski; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Dewey) Traini ; Angela (Carson) Gray; Nicolas Jozefczyk, Braydn Szymkiewicz, Paytn Szymkiewicz, Katelyn Bombalski and Ethan Bombalski; one great-grandchild, Jacob Gray; and a sister, Sylvia Begolly.  According to his wishes there will be no public visitations.  Private inurnment will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.  Frederick Funeral Home, Inc. 1543 Ligonier St, Latrobe, PA 15650 entrusted with arrangements.www.FrederickFuneralHome.com.
