Ronald I. Vid, 74, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at home. He was born April 22, 1941, in Latrobe, son of the late Bernard Vid and Stella (Polosky) Vid. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School class of 1960. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from California University of Pennsylvania followed by a Master of Education Degree from Bowling Green State University. He also earned educational certificates from Duquesne University and West Virginia University. He taught in the Hempfield School District from 1968 to 1970 where he served as the planetarium director. He served as Yough Junior High School Principal from 1970 to 1986. He directed the development of Yough School District Curriculum K-12 and oversaw the first Long Range Plan. He was appointed clerk of the works to complete the first Yough Junior High renovation. He retired in 2004, following 18 years of service (1986-2004), as an administrator for Greater Latrobe School District, having served as assistant principal of Greater Latrobe Junior and Senior High Schools. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. Ron enjoyed traveling and caring for his beautiful yard. He was an avid sports fan, especially Penn State football and Steelers football. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet (Kuhns) Vid; three children, Renee Vid Colborn and her husband, Skip, of Connellsville, Jeff Vid and his wife, Lisa, of Bridgeville, and Karen Wydareny and her husband, Mark, of Latrobe; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan and Ethan Wydareny, and Ali Soukovich. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015, in Our Lady of Grace Church with the Rev. Daniel L. Blout. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH.
