Rose Ann Heckel

Rose Ann Ali Heckel, 95, of Latrobe passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in Emeritus at Latrobe, Unity Township. Born Dec. 21, 1918, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Calis) Ali. Prior to retirement, Rose was an administrative assistant for Pennsylvania State Office of Employment Security. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Heckel, in 1974; her brothers, Raymond and Frank Ali, and her sister, Alma Heckel. She is survived by three children, Barb A. Brady and her husband, Terrence, of Zieglerville, Richard F. Heckel and his wife, Mary, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Jeffrey L. Heckel and his wife, Candy, of Latrobe; 11 grandchildren, Christine Latour and her husband, Armand, Allison Brady, Amanda Heckel, Ted Brady and his wife, Amy, Carolyn Heckel and her fiancAC., Henry Mimms, Ashley (Heckel) Basciano and her husband, Luke, Alicia (Heckel) Simpson and her husband, Brandon, and Brent Heckel and his fiancAC.e, Marissa Glick, and two great-grandsons, AJ Latour and Brock Simpson. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in Frederick Funeral Home Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at St. Vincent Basilica with the Rev. Thomas P. Curry, OSB, as celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Rose's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Emeritus at Latrobe and to the Grane Hospice family. The care and attention given to her made the remaining years of her life fulfilling.
