Ruth Joyce Crispin

Ruth Joyce (Saxman) Crispin, 81, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born July 11, 1930, in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late Harry Walter and Kathryn (Hill) Saxman. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Prior to retirement, she was a bus driver for Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging. She was a member of the Latrobe Art Center, where she painted, sculpted, carved apple heads and continued to share those talents with her granddaughter. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, playing cards and bingo with her sisters and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, George "Bud," William and Harry "Ed"; and seven sisters, Sally Ann, Georgie and Dawn Saxman, Violet "Vi" Kantor, Margaret Nowe, Kathryn "Toots" Gaul and Ida Alesi. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vaughn L. Crispin Sr.; four children, Vaughn L. Crispin Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Idaho, Sandra Crispin and Diana Crispin, both of Florida, and Scott A. Crispin and his wife, Beth Ann, of Latrobe; three grandchildren, Matthew D. Short, of Derry, Andrew Short, of Blairsville, and MacKenzie Crispin, of Latrobe; a great-grandson, Devin Short, of Latrobe; a brother, Walter Saxman, of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and one niece whom she thought of as a daughter, Kathy Schall and her husband, Don, of Latrobe. As per family wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date. A private interment will be held in Bethel Church Cemetery, Latrobe.
