Viola "Velia" M. Smyth

Viola M. "Velia" Smyth, 79, of Latrobe died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Born Sept. 10, 1928, in Blairsville, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Maria (Mortini) Morini. Prior to retirement, Velia was a registered nurse for Mountain View Nursing Center. She was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing. She is survived by her husband, William J. Smyth Jr.; son, John Smyth and his wife, Diane, of Hoover, Ala., and grandson, Joshua T. Smyth. There will be no public visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Interment will be in SS. Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
