William A. Gallagher, 75, of Latrobe died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Sept. 12, 1932, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late William D. and Mary Josephine (Weiman) Gallagher. Prior to retirement, William was a vibratory former for Carborundum Co. near Latrobe. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Thomas Gallagher, and a sister, Margaret Wellek. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Gerard Gallagher; a sister, Mrs. Andrew (Mary Ann) Phillips of New Alexandria, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Frederick Funeral Home Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Unity Township. The combined funeral detail of Thomas B. Anderson American Legion Post 515 and Paul Lizza VFW Post 3414 will provide military honors at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
