William E. Rupert, 87, of Latrobe, died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born March 18, 1924, in Latrobe, a son of the late Emil R. Rupert and Anna Houck Rupert. William was a retired laborer for Westinghouse in Derry and a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. William is survived by his wife, Marie C. (James) Rupert; a son, Richard E. Rupert and his wife, Shelly, of Latrobe; a daughter, Lois Hohula and her husband, John, of Loyalhanna; four grandchildren, Richard, Cristal, Angela and Dana; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emilie Metrick, of Latrobe. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Trinity Pastors officiating. Burial at Unity Cemetery, Latrobe. The combined funeral detail of local American Legion and VFW members will provide military honors at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
